About Shelby *On Trial in Her New Home*
*ON TRIAL IN HER NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES/APPLICATIONS PLEASE* This gorgeous dark chocolate brown Whippet pup is looking for a new home! She was loved in her old home, but unfortunately she was a bit too energetic for the very young child of the family, so they felt it best that Shelby finds a new family to love her and treat her like a princess albeit a VERY FAST princess!
Shelby adores other dogs and happily plays with her foster mum's Kelpie pup and other Whippets for hours, then she curls up in your lap and has a puppy snooze ... all ready to start again re-energised! She was brought up in a house with 2 cats and got along well with them (the older cat didn't want to play silly puppy games, but the younger cat quite enjoyed a bit of rough and tumble). She is very lively and most amusing to watch when she does the "Whippet pogo stick" - jumping off all 4 legs on the spot - but she’s a good girl and doesn't jump fences.
Miss Shelby needs to be an inside/outside dog (Whippets don't take up much room on your couch!). She has been sleeping on a doggy mattress next to her foster parent's bed, and she hasn't had any little accidents during the night. She will need a jacket to wear on cooler days as they feel the cold badly as they have little body fat (“thin as a Whippet!”). Shelby knows “sit”, and will learn other commands very quickly (Whippets are very intelligent dogs and are easy to train - but hate being disciplined - they just want to please you!). She is good in the car and curls up to have a nap after a quick check out the window. Whippets are included on the "Burke's Backyard” recommended dogs list for children under 10" and are very tolerant, but their energy and enthusiasm could easily knock a young child flying if not supervised.
Ideally Shelby will find a fabulous home with another doggy friend to play with, and lots of people company as Whippets hate not being included as part of the "pack" and are incredibly loyal and loving dogs - but she would hate to be by herself all day. Whippies are often called "velcro dogs" as they just love to be near you! She also LOVES food especially chicken necks and a good bone for her puppy teeth.
If Shelby sounds like the kind of Whippet you’ve been looking for to share your life and your couch with then please download and complete a SARG Dog Application form by following this link: http://www.sarg.net.au/adoptapet.html \
Please Note: Shelby will be desexed on 15 November and can go to her forever home after that, so please be patient.
Medical notes
Shelby comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and wormed.
DOB: 24/03/13.
Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
