Toto

PAWS received a call from Hawkesbury Pound to say they had a little black dog with a limp that was not able to be rehomed and sadly her owners had not come for her. A limp you say? And not able to be rehomed? NO! Off we went to pick the little black dog up immediately! And we called her Toto because she looks just like Dorothy's dog from the Wizard of Oz. All the necessary vet work was done and she also had x-rays to find out the problem with her back leg. Toto was found to have a ruptured achilles tendon in her back left leg and so walks on her hock. She is obviously used to walking with it as the vet thinks the damage was done some time ago. Emails have been sent to Simon Whittaker, a great surgeon who has done some wonderful orthopaedic work on our rescue dogs. Simon can fix Toto's leg which is wonderful so she will no longer need to walk on her hock. Recovery time is long and funds will need to be raised before we can do any surgery. We are committed to making Toto's life more comfortable and will do the surgery as soon as possible. Toto will not be available for adoption until she has recovered completely.
