Peaches (On Trial 5/11/13)

Peaches here and I’m the cream of the crop, I am a beautiful 3.5 year old beagle. I am well trained in regards to sitting, staying and come, yes you heard me correctly I respond to the come command. If you know your beagles then you are probably shaking your heads in disbelief. I have not failed once to heel off leash with my foster mum even with the temptation of 120 acres filled with cows, dears and kangaroo smells.
I am a happy go lucky little lady, who loves my walks although I am still learning not to pull on the lead when excited. A daily walk settles the excitement level and therefore so does the pulling. Going for car trips is great and if you happen to leave the door to the car open I will jump in waiting for a ride.
Currently I am practicing not jumping up when my human friends arrive home after a time away and I am trying to refrain from taking food from the kid’s hands... it’s not my fault the sausages just hang at that tempting height. I do not dig or jump fences but will sniff around for any obvious gaps in the fence, so a well fenced yard is absolutely essential.
I live with two beagles, a kelpie, two fox terriers and a poodle. Needless to say I am well socialised. Previously, I lived alone and was very lonely, bored and scared so I would bark a lot. Since having friends, an active family and a lounge to lie on, I very rarely bark. I’ve also met horses, rabbits and cats and although eager to say hi I leave them be if am told to do so.
In my new home I would love company, both human and doggy, although I probably would not suit a high energy friend as I do enjoy a lot of down time, and my body type is not suited to high energy exercise. I will have a bit of a run and a play and love to walk and paddle in water. I am quite partial to food and am prone to gaining weight, so my new family will need to understand this and not kill me with kindness.
Your love and company is all I need to make a loving pet for a young family, I will wait around for pats and cuddles from all people great and small. I am happy to be both inside and out but I do require inside time whenever possible.
