About Spot
Spotty-dog is a lovely boy, around 7kgs of wiggly puppy kisses at the moment, with room to grow.
He is very sweet, and just lives to please! He is most happy when he is with his people and will quietly shadow them.
He can be a little shy at first but once he warms up to you he loves his pats and cuddles. He is a very fast learner and knows how to sit and lay down on command - we are practicing sit and wait for permission to have his dinner and he is picking it up very fast!
Spotty sleeps in a crate all night with no accidents, and even though he doesnt like going in at night, he quickly calms and snores his head off. He will wake up when you do, ready for the day.
Spotty is warming to his walks, and his confidence is growing. He will nicely walk beside his carer at this stage but this could be because he is shy - as he grows more confident he will benefit from obedience training and gentle guidance.
Spotty will become very bonded with his forever owner - he needs a person to be his whole world!
IDEAL HOME
I love to be around my special person, so I would like to be an inside dog when you are home, with access to the backyard if possible. I love a snuggle and a play but I'm not demanding. I'm happy to lay at your feet and just be with you.
I'm getting better being on my own during the day and will only cry a little bit at first then sleep until you get home. I need someone who will not encourage me to cry, even though I can be very convincing that my little heart is breaking when you leave me.
ENERGY LEVEL
I would say I'm a medium energy dog - I'm happy to snooze throughout the day but when you get home I want to play!
I would love a home where I am walked daily and exposed to the big world outside as this helps. Adults who are calm and kind, who will be able to correct me in a gentle fashion as yelling/loud noises can sometimes worry me while I'm gaining confidence.
And as I grow older I will need the mental stimulation of being able to have a good walk daily and once I'm bonded and confident with you, I would like to be let off my leash at the park for a run!
SUITABILITY WITH CHILDREN AND OTHER ANIMALS
I am a little shy and though I'm getting better with my confidence in noisy situations I don't think I would be suited to a home with children right now.
I also find it a little hard to contain my excitement and can nip very gently at ankles/calves or get under feet which might worry little people. I'm not naughty, I'm just so happy to see you! I can be shy with new dogs, but I warm up very quickly.
I grew up on a farm with lots of brothers and sisters like me and therefore I can play a little bit rough (oops!). I would love to be in a home with another dog for company when you are at work, but a robust doggy who is a bit older who can teach me that I don't need to be in charge of the games all the time, and remind me of my social-pack manners."
Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
