About Berkley
I’m a lover not a fighter! Berkley’s the name & I am here to please you. I’m 16 month old, male, ridgeback x staffy. I like to romp and play rather than stand around looking imposing. I have a real zest for life and enjoy new experiences and adventures.
People are my favourite, I am gentle around children, even when they are a bit overenthusiastic I am very tolerant. I crave your affection and really don’t mind what activities we participate in, running, walking, car rides or lazing in the sun, just as long as we can be together.
I walk well on lead; am toilet trained, and even managed a long car trip without any accidents. I am polite, sitting and waiting for my dinner, and can also shake hands.
Speaking of dinner, I am not a fussy eater, but I love eggs. I also have strong jaws and love to chew, especially as a puppy, so it is essential that you give me plenty of bones and chew toys to satisfy my urge.
My new family would need to be good listeners, because I am a bit of a talker, and can yawn really, really loud.
Currently, I live in harmony with another male puppy. He might be small but he gives me the run around: play time involves loads of wrestling, and tug of war, this means when night falls I will sleep soundly through the night. I sleep inside and sometimes outside in nice weather.
I am not suitable to a home with chickens or small pets such as guinea pigs or rabbits as they are too much fun to chase.
Personally, I feel I would make an ideal family pet, with my affection, loyalty and playfulness making it easy for my forever family to love me and shower me with heaps of attention. It would be great if my new family had another dog to play with, and assist in socialisation, as I can get a very excited when seeing other dogs out and about. One last thing, my new home needs to have a tall fence as I can jump.
For more information or to meet me please phone foster carer Jacque on 0459 199 767. Berkley is in foster care in Singleton, NSW and is available for adoption interstate. Transport to Newcastle may be able to be arranged.
Berkley's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
