Mama

Mama is a 6yr old, medium, female tan Staffy x. She is very sweet, quiet, and very obedient with adults and children. Mama craves human affection and praise, she is always looking at me for approval, she enjoys hanging out on her bed, watching her foster mum cook, clean, and sometimes yell at the kids!. Once she warms to you, she is loving and loyal, with a gentle nature. She currently lives with four boisterous boys 11, 8, 6 and 3yrs and tolerates their sudden movements and noise, and will happily lie on her bed watching all the commotion. The children tell her to get on her bed, and "Lie down!", when riding their scooters, and she always listens to their commands.

Once mama has had a long walk, she'll sleep most of the day. She walks beautifully beside me, on the leash. She can sit, stay, lie down, out, do wee wees (nearly on command!), and shake. She sleeps really well in her crate for up to ten hours, and not a peep out of her. She is calm and relaxed in the car & enjoys the ride. Mama isn't so keen on her baths, but will tolerate her grooming until done.

Mama was used as a breeding machine and was not given a fair life, and the attention she deserves. It does appear that she hasn't had much of a chance to socialise with other dogs prior to being rescued, and at times can be dominant, and not so keen on smaller dogs, but with continued exposure to other dogs in a safe environment and some guidance she may begin to relax. Her forever home needs to be understanding to this & responsible walking her at a distance (at the moment), to oncoming dog walkers, until she learns to be more polite and relaxed. It would be best in her new home she be the only dog, and her owner continue socialising her, so she becomes comfortable around other K9 friends.

She was very thin and had sore ears when she came to us, so we are tending to her needs, and working on getting her back to full health, so she can enjoy life and relax.. and just be a dog!

With ongoing training, leadership, care, exercise and love, this beautiful soul, & sweetheart will thrive with an experienced owner/s.. and make a fabulous companion and loyal friend for life.
