Abby (Adopted 7/10/13)

Hi there, I’m Abby, a Blue Australian Cattle Dog cross, medium in size and less than 2 years old. I have a beautiful temperament, who loves children and adults. My foster carer calls me her “love on legs”, because I love to sit on laps and give heaps of free kisses and cuddles. After initial greetings I am happy to settle at your feet chewing on my teddies.

I know basic commands, am toilet trained, and will not wander far from you when off lead, when you are ready for me to return give me a quick whistle or call my name and I’m there. When on lead I do not pull but I love to sniff all the different smells and can sometimes get my carer into a bit of tangle.

I sleep on my bed in the laundry with access to outside, just in case nature calls in the middle of the night.

When I first was in care I was terrified by other dogs and displayed some fear based behaviours but with patience and supervision from my carer I have been able to make friends with my carers’ kelpie x and I am the one to initiate play.

I would love to have the company of another dog but due to my fear, I would need supervised visits at first. If I am to be an only dog I will need someone to be at home most of the time for company. I’m really not one for being by myself, but understand that on occasions this may be necessary.

Like most girls I have gained a few kilos over the winter period but am keen to get my summer body ready, so I have committed to getting fit. I have started walking short distances and reduced my food intake – come on we all know it’s about portion control and exercise. So, if you are looking for a fitness buddy, then I’m your girl; we can get fit together.

I hear you ask “Abby what is your perfect forever home”; it is one where I will be allowed inside, especially of a night as I get a bit lonely and miss you (that’s how much I will love you), preferably someone who is home most of the time so I can give you all my loving. Having said that I do understand that absence makes the heart grow fonder and know that I may have to spend some time outside.

Therefore, I would also require a secure yard with shelter and somewhere comfy to lay.
