About Ralphy (On Trial 17/10/13)
Ralphy is a 11 month old Maltese x Chihuahua. He is a friendly, tiny and lovable little guy who loves his foster pals big and small. He plays happily all day with them and then comes inside to curl up with his Jack Russell bestie and sleeps all night without a fuss.
Ralphy is housetrained and lives inside with access to the outside all day. He loves a walk and has no issues being left when you go out as long as he has his pals with him.
Ralphy came to Dog Rescue Newcastle (DRN) because he was purchased from a pet shop on the spur of the moment and then grown tired of and given away to a stranger at a park who didn’t really want him either so then poor little Ralphy ended up in Muswellbrook Pound where DRN rescued him.
Ralphy weighs all of 2.5 kilos and would need particularly good fences as even the tiniest gap would allow him to squeeze out. He is not an escaper at all as he is happy with his pals but a very extensive yard check will be done for anyone wishing to adopt Ralphy.
Ralphy will only go to a home that has another dog or dogs as he would not be happy on his own and also to a home where he has access to the inside at all times as he needs to be able to get out of the weather when necessary
He is a little worried by small children as he may have been frightened by them in his short life, but if the children are gentle and old enough he may be fine. He does also get worried when carried and could jump out of a child's arms if he gets a fright.
Ralphy is a dear little happy man whose life from now on will be secure and permanent.
Ralphy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
