Spiro (On Trial 23/9/13)

This little man is Spiro, 3yo Tenterfield Terrier with a bob tail. He appears to have excellent breeding. He is great with other dogs and is happy to play with them in the park or live with them with no problems. He shows no signs of anxiety or possessiveness and will suit just about any home situation, whether a family with children or single person living arrangement. I’m unsure about his reaction to cats, but I’m guessing he would be rather blasé if he would be living with one. He is fully toilet trained and has had no accidents in the house. "Spiro" rhymes with "biro" like the pen.

Spiro loves to have snuggles and will sit on your lap any chance he gets. If he’s not cuddling you, he’s following you around just in case you’ll be needing a cuddle any time soon. He didn’t like sleeping in a separate room to his people, but happily slept on the floor next to my bed. He would love to be on the bed because that’s where the best snuggles are.

Spiro is playful and calm at the same time. His fitness needs a bit of work and I’m guessing he didn’t go on long walks until I started taking him. He walks well on the lead, after the initial excitement wears off, and walks nicely next to me without pulling. When he’s playing he is rather vocal, but rest assured it’s ‘I’m having fun with you’ growls. He loves to wrestle with stuffed toys and with your hands. Young children may need to be taught how to understand his playful nips as he will need to be trained not to play like that with all people. (I’m a rough player and he has never hurt me, if he gets a bit too excited I say ‘gentle’ and he’ll stop instantly).

He has eaten everything I have given him, but he likes his dry food mixed up with something more delicious like meat. He loves little treats too.

Spiro came into rescue because his owner unfortunately became ill and couldn’t take him with her to the nursing home. Spiro has settled in quickly in our home as if he’s been here always, so I'm sure he'll settle into his new, permanent home very easily too. He is such a lovely little man that will fit right in and bring his family lots of love.
