About Benson
Gentle dog, needs reassuring owner
Currently in foster care in Newtown
Personality: gentle, aims to please, can be timid and easily frightened. Goofy and bouncy in the dog park and when out in a nice quiet setting such as in the bush. His nature is submissive / appeasing - he wants to please and to play, not to be boss. He learns very quickly and will thrive with proper training. He is a dog that will show a lot of loyalty.
Benson is a shy, loving, gentle, adorable dog who needs a patient and gentle human who will give him lots of encouragement and reassurance.
MY IDEAL HOME
With a single person or couple who are often at home and/or have a friendly, non-domineering dog to keep him company when they are away. His new humans will need to be patient, gentle, and soft with him. He wants to please and be loved and just needs kindness and understanding. He would not do well is a noisy or busy household - he would be stressed and frightened. He is an inside dog once - he gets to know and trust you he wants to be where you are.
ENERGY LEVEL
Will take as much or as little exercise as you give him. At his happiest when out walking and exploring. He loves parks and bushland and the company of other non-dominant dogs, His current playmates include a staffy with whom he enjoys play-fighting and a cocker spaniel who likes to be chased.
SUITABILITY WITH CHILDREN
He is good with children who are gentle and quiet around him. But because he is uncertain about many things, startled by loud noises and essentially an dog who will flourish in a calm environment, he would probably be better in a household with no children,
SUITABILITY WITH OTHER DOGS AND CATS
Benson LOVES dogs. He is very interested in cats and birds and is very gentle around them. If they are not friendly and hiss he will keep his distance and be quite worried if they are near.

Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing NSWadoptions@maggiesrescue.org or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
