Ruff (On Trial 30/9/13)

Ruff is a Kelpie x Staffordshire terrier, only 10 months old. He is still a puppy so is very energetic. He has the most amazing kelpie eyes and is incredibly intelligent. He loves people and adores all my children with ages ranging from 3 years to 11 years.

Ruff loves playing fetch with anything and can play for hours or until we lie down with exhaustion. He loves to play by himself and will keep himself entertained, usually with a ball, stick, watering can, sprinkler, shoe or whatever he can find at the time. With his breeding, Ruff needs extensive exercise including long walks, playing in the back yard or large areas to explore. He is not real keen on swimming at this stage, despite many walks by the lake.

He's very affectionate- loves to lick you and gets very excited whenever you show him some attention. He rarely barks and we have only heard him bark a few times in 2 months. He sleeps outside without any problem but is more than happy to sneak in and watch Foxtel with the kids. We think he would be better off with children aged 5 and above as he gets excited and is still a clumsy puppy that doesn’t know his own strength. He is quite well trained already and sits and stays for all meals until he is given the command to eat his dinner. He is also trained to take food from your hand politely. \

Ruff LOVES going for walks and is really good on a lead although he does still pull a little bit, so a little more training is necessary. He needs a daily walk. When I let him off the leash he stays close and he comes when called.

Ruff is quite submissive and timid, at first, around other dogs but this is mainly attributed to his puppy demeanour. Once the tails wag he is best friends with every dog and wants to play. He has never shown any aggression to any other dog or human. So far he has ignored cats on our walks. He's fine with cats.

Ruff is such a beautiful dog and will find a family very easily, so don’t miss out on the best dog ever. We would love to keep him but are committed to fostering dogs that are less fortunate than Ruff.
