About Lucy
Lucy is an active, sweet and extremely intelligent dog who loves to play and exercise. She is about the size of a small Cocker Spaniel with a short, low maintenance Beagle coat! Lucy is house trained and she gets along with other dogs and cats. Lucy has the basic knowledge with training and will require a new family who can put in the time and effort it takes to help her become the best dog she can be with regular training and encouragement. She would really benefit from being socialised regularly with other dogs and attending a training class.
Lucy is best suited to an adult home or a family with older/dog savvy children. She can get a little bit boisterous around smaller children, as she just wants to play with them. Lucy is always happy, and really just wants to be loved and praised for her good behaviour.
When Lucy arrived in care she had a condition in both eyes, call Cherry Eye. This is when the tear ducts protrude into the eye. She had surgery to correct this around 3 weeks ago. The surgery was a great success, both tear ducts are now firmly back where they belong, though due to the condition being present for so long, the repair has caused slight kinking of her third eyelids (the pink you can see at the bottom of her eyes). We're hoping this will settle over the coming months, (she still has some swelling from the surgery) to sit back below her eyelids. It is purely cosmetic and doesn't bother her or affect her eyes in anyway, and if it doesn't settle back below the level of her eyelids, her new owner can chose to have it trimmed off in the future.
Lucy is a lovely, happy, friendly girl who is looking for an active home where she will be included in family activities and welcomed into the home to sleep at night.
Lucy is in care in Croydon
Medical notes
Lucy goes to her new home desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and having had bilateral Cherry Eye surgery to repair her tear ducts.
