Maisie (On Trial 20/9/13)

Hi my name is Maisie and I’m a Shih Tzu x Maltese x Poodle, only about 6kg. I’m only 1 year old so have lots of years ahead of me to be a part of my new family. I love being inside and close to my humans, so I must be allowed inside and to sleep inside (preferably next to one of my humans beds!). I need a mummy or daddy who is home most of the time as I just love being with people and don’t like being by myself for long or shut outside, and I really love kids too! My ears prick up excitedly whenever I hear children.

If I get really excited to see you when you come home, sometimes I crawl on my belly and shake my head I’m so happy, which my foster mummy thinks is very cute. I have a few favourite toys that I like to run around with sometimes, and love my Kong treat toy which keeps me occupied. I am still learning that some things I am allowed to chew and some I’m not.

I have a non shedding coat so my forever family will have to brush me every day, bathe me every couple of weeks, and get me professionally clipped every 6 to 8 weeks to keep my pretty coat in top condition. I am pretty good with getting brushed and bathed, though I don’t really like it that much, and sometimes I go a bit silly.

I am getting better every day with requests to sit and stay, and am good at walking on the lead. I am still being housetrained but my foster parents say I am very smart and learning quickly. I would love to do some more training with my new family in my forever home and maybe go to classes.

In my short life I have lived in a few different homes, and am a bit wary and nervous of other doggies, so would be happy to be an only dog and get all my family's attention. I am getting better and better at meeting other doggie friends on my walks, but big dogs make me scared and I want my mummy to pick me up, but she tells me it's ok and they just want to be friends and I guess they are ok. If my new family has other pets we would have to meet and see if I like them before I move in.

I love belly rubs too and I travel very well in the car. I love frozen chicken wings, but sometimes I like to bury my treats in the dirt. If you would like to make me part of your family please call my foster mummy so I can meet you!
