About Sarge (On Trial 17/10/13)
Sarge is a handsome, young gentleman, 14 months old, large breed mix. He loves to have human and canine company and will cuddle until the cows come home if it were up to him. He gets along so well with our dog, who has bounds of energy. He is quite happily left at home when he has a friend to play with.
We had a DNA test done to figure out his breed and he is a Bloodhound x Borzoi x Boxer x Staffy!
Sarge accompanies our family just about everywhere we go and he loves to be out and about seeing, smelling, feeling new things. Sarge has always been friendly and happy to meet other dogs. His history states he has not been a cat lover in the past and when he has joined me at work (veterinary nurse) and come in close contact with cats he has not batted an eyelid. You never know, there could be a future for him to extend his love to the feline kind.
Sarge would be best suited to a family that is active and that would involve him in their everyday life, including letting him come in the house for company.
He is used to having a 4 year old boy around the house and tolerates the company well. Kids of all ages would love Sarge as he is very friendly and gentle. Although he is a large breed, Sarge does not jump up often and has not bowled over our son. Sarge has been learning to love the beach, the waves can be a little loud and scary at times but he is still happy to wade in the shallows and explore the rock pools. With a little encouragement, I'm positive Sarge could be a water baby.
His coat is white and short haired, soft not wirey. A quick daily brush is all he needs. We have not had any dramas putting Sarge in the hydrobath at work. Again, the noise is a little scary for him but he is happy to stand nice and still while you bath him.
He is a very quiet boy, and it is rare for us to hear him barking and when he does, there is not much to it. His size most certainly does not match his bark!
Sarge is house trained and even did really well when he first entered our home full of all new smells and another dogs territory. All over behavioural wise, we have not witnessed any negative instances. He has not chewed any belongings, he has never dug holes around our property and has never tried to jump our fences. He has been an absolute treasure to know and have in our family!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
