About Opie (10/9/13)
Opie is a 3yo Shih Tzu. He is a very sweet boy. His favourite things are playing, being groomed and having cuddles. He’s just like a little teddy bear. Opie needs a loving home that can provide him with lots of cuddles and won’t leave him alone too much as he does get lonely. He is very friendly with all people, children, and dogs. Opie is not yappy but will bark to let you know someone has arrived. He is toilet trained and can use a dog door.
*** See a cute video of Opie playing with balloons at http://youtu.be/WmugTfcLyko
Opie has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep him comfortable and beautiful. It is not a hassle as Opie loves to be brushed and groomed. He even falls asleep whilst being blow-dried and having his feet and nails trimmed.
A home with no cat would be preferable as he can be an annoyance trying to play with my cat. Opie must be allowed to have inside when you are home and sleep inside. He currently sleeps in a crate in my lounge room and is happy to do so.
For more information or to meet Opie please phone foster carer Mel on 0432-288-773 or email me11ne@hotmail.com . Opie is in foster care in Edgeworth, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Opie's $450 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
