About Sam *On Trial in His New Home*
*SAM IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME - NO MORE ENQUIRIES PLEASE* Sam is a quiet, thoughtful little boy who, once he gets to know you, will smooch and happily show you his playful side. He is looking for a caring and compassionate home who will help build his confidence and understands he is a bit shy when meeting new people
Recently rescued from Swan Hill Council’s pound poor Sam was quite unsure of the world when he first came into foster care and took awhile to warm up to his carer and her 2 teenage daughters. Through lots of love and attention, he has come out of his shell and is now lapping up being spoilt by his foster family as well as enjoying playing with their own Terrier cross and their Kelpie cross who are both male. We wouldn’t recommend Sam to a home with boisterous young children who could frighten him though in saying that primary school age kids or older would be fine as he’s fairly active and likes to run around. While in care Sam’s been brushing up on “sit” and he’s good with going for walks on a lead. He’s obviously been through a lot in his past life; even his coat was a shaggy, knotted, smelly mess but a bath and a haircut soon fixed that!
From his foster carer:
Well what can I tell you about Sam; one of my daughter’s says he is a big sooky bum! He’s fine with us now though takes a while to warm up to visitors; he’s a bit standoffish until he susses them out. It’s funny as he won’t come to you if you’re walking around but the moment you sit on the couch or hop into bed he is all over you looking for a cuddle. He likes to stay close if you’re around and he happily sleeps in his basket next to me if I’m working at the kitchen table. Sam enjoys playing tug-o-war and chasey with Jack and Bosco (our dogs) and he now stands up to them if they get a bit too full on. The cheeky monkey loves to steal shoes and clothes then runs away shaking them from side to side while growling though he never chews them just plays! He has good manners and doesn’t snatch when he’s offered food. Sam fell asleep standing up the other day and his feet literally slipped out from under him on the tiles - funniest thing I’ve seen in a while!
Adorable Sam is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up his energy. He doesn’t shed any hair though he’ll require a professional groom a few times a year so he doesn’t end up in the state he was in when he first came to us. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew on and toys to play with will make him very happy indeed! As Sam’s carer has been working on his housetraining and he sleeps inside at night we would like to see this inside / outside lifestyle continue in his new home with preferably another friendly dog for company

Adoption details
Please Note: SARG and our animals for adoption are located in Mildura in North-West Victoria.
Our adoption process commences with completing an Application form which you'll find at: www.sarg.net.au
The Application is then reviewed, references checked and a yard check done, then, if there are no issues, a meet and greet is organised. If all goes well the last stage is a 28 day home-trial to make sure that everyone is happy.
If the trial is successful our “stray” is then officially considered adopted and the microchip transferred into the new owners name.
If anything goes wrong SARG will always take back one of our animals :)
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
