On Hold
About Phoebe (On Hold pending adoption)
Phoebe is a large sized 4 year old Deer Hound cross. Words cannot describe what a gentle giant this noble young lady is! She seems to enjoy the quiet life and is content to lie around all day. She would be fine outside while the family are at work but must be allowed inside when people are at home and to sleep inside. Phoebe is a companion dog who loves people and wants nothing more than to be by her carers’ side.
Phoebe just LOVES going for a walk and plods along happily beside her walker without any pulling on the lead whatsoever, and is unresponsive to other dogs when walking. She is also quite content with a small walk around the block - just 20 minutes a day would be enough for her but she definitely needs that at least.
Phoebe has an incredibly sweet nature and has not shown one ounce of aggression towards any person or dog that she has encountered during her short time in foster care. She has not barked or even whimpered once, and is currently left outside during the day with her other foster siblings while we are at work. Then sleeps quietly in the lounge room on her bed at night.
Phoebe did not have any training when she came to us but in just one week she is starting to respond to basic commands and has basically taught herself how to use the doggy door. She is house trained and has not had one single accident in my house.
Phoebe passed the pound's temperament test which speaks volumes about her complete lack of vice – no food aggression, no jumping up etc. Through no fault of her own poor Phoebe has had multiple homes after originally being adopted from the pound. We are now wanting to find her a loving home where she can settle down for the rest of her life.
She is currently living in a small foster home with 3 other dogs (both large and small) and 2 cats and has settled in beautifully. However, I think she would be best suited to a home with either no other dogs or only one other dog. She tolerates the other 3 dogs at my place but I am sure that they must irritate her, especially my silly wolfie who constantly harasses her to play. I also think that she would be best that she went to a home with older children, not because she is bad with them, just because she prefers the quiet life.
The ideal home for Phoebe would be one with an active single person, couple or family who are committed to taking her for a daily walk and allowing her inside of an evening. Phoebes’ needs are simple and in return someone will have the pleasure of owning a beautiful natured, quiet and loving companion.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
