About Duke
Hi, my name is Duke and I am an extremely cute looking boy of 4 years of age with papers. I have lived with my brother Ace all my life and we got on really well until we had a fight about who knows what when we were 3. Then all was calm again until we had a couple more barneys recently and our human mum and dad have had to keep us separated. They decided it wasn't fair on either of us and reluctantly surrendered me.
I have been very much loved and SRV say they wouldn't mind eating my food which was mixed raw mince with veggies and pasta..... This is probably why my owners say I am a real pig with my food and shovel it down as fast as I can!
They have written a lovely letter about me to go to my new owners, telling them all about me and my personality.
I am house trained and lived with a small child whom I am very gentle with. I am rougher with older ones though if they run around and can jump up on them so need a bit of training in that direction. I pull a little on the lead at first but then ok and you can run me off lead and I will return when requested. I will also respond to "wait" when coming to a road or "get on your mat" when inside.
I have grown up with a cat named Lily. I was gentle with her but got a little excited if she ran around. The cat always put me in my place though. If you have a cat you would want to introduce me to it carefully like with any dog.
I love playing with water, the hose is a favourite game for me and I also love swimming in rivers or dams. But because of my colour you are better walking me in the mornings or out of the sun as I don't handle the heat very well.
If you think you can offer me a forever home please go to www.staffordrescuevictoria.org.au and fill out an Adoption Request Form. Then ring Jan on 0408 515 111 after you have given her time to read it. Filling out an Adoption Request Form helps us match the dogs to the perfect family and having you on file fast tracks the process
