About Puppy Bristol (On Trial 29/8/13)
Bristol is a 10 week old, male, border collie x husky puppy who is very playful and energetic. He is learning to sit, stay but is still learning these and lots of other tricks. He loves his food responds well to positive, reward-based training.
Bristol gets on well with other puppies and enjoys chasing his ball, his pig-shaped toy and clothes, shoes - anything left on the ground. He really enjoys cuddles especially from kids although he does still jump and play nip as he is a puppy. Bristol and his litter mates have grown up with our other dogs and children so they are used to a home environment and will fit right in with family life. Bristol has a brother Gizmo who is also available for adoption.
Because of his breeds he has a high energy level and will need daily walks and stimulation otherwise he will get bored very easily. He needs daily brushing which he is starting to get used to with treats as a reward. He will shed a bit so will not be suitable for an asthmatic or sensitive nose. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life.
Bristol will only be allowed to go to a home where he will be inside and part of the family, not just put out in the yard. He has learnt the trademark howl of the husky breed but only uses it if he is left by himself without a playmate, which is why, he must go to a home with another dog for company, or where someone is home much of the time.
For more information or to meet Bristol please phone foster carer Kylie on 0470-704-513 or email saveadog@dodo.com.au . Bristol is in foster care in East Maitland, NSW (15 minutes north of Newcastle).
Bristol's $450 adoption fee includes his DESEXING, first two vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
