About lovable Ned
Hello!
My name is Ned. I’m a beautiful 1-year-old Kelpie X who is looking for a forever home. Could my perfect home be with you?
I’m still very much a puppy and being a working dog also, have boundless energy and like to keep busy! I love playing with the other young pup I am living with and will wrestle with her gently without things getting out of control. I’m respectful of the older dog I live with too and give him his space. When I go to the park I enjoy meeting other dogs of all sizes, although the really big ones are a little intimidating and I’m still figuring out what to make of them. When I’m outside I just run and run! I also love jumping at the water that comes out of the hose – what fun!
I would appreciate finding someone who has had experience with dogs before as I think it is easier to talk to them and they will understand me better. I don’t live with children but have been great with the children I have met. I am very gentle and know not to jump up. I love human company and really enjoy a scratch behind the ear or leaning in for a pat. I’m a quick learner and know I have to sit before I get a treat. I’m still learning about being brushed (Schmackos help!) as I do need a few minutes grooming a couple of times a week just to keep my lovely coat tangle-free. I have a beautiful, soft, shiny coat that is of medium length.
Food and fresh water has not always been available to me, so I am a bit food-obsessed and almost inhale any food I am given! I’m gaining weight nicely though and am very understanding if you have to take food away from me. I’ve been known to raid the recycling bin when no one was watching (can you blame me?) but otherwise know my boundaries – I don’t jump on the couch and know my foster parents’ bed is off-limits. I’m still learning that you can’t bury a treat in the carpet or tiles though! I’m housetrained but don’t really communicate when I want to be let out, so if you just let me out periodically I’ll be happy to run off and do my thing (so long as it’s not raining!)
I’m looking for a forever home with humans who have time for me and am probably best suited to a home with another dog who can ‘show me the ropes’ and keep me company. I need stimulation or the working dog puppy comes out in me – I can dig a great hole! I’d love a decent walk every day, or even better, I wouldn’t complain about two. I’m still learning to walk on the lead but am getting better, particularly if my foster parents tire me out first. I have a tendency to be a bit vocal when excited – my foster parents are working on this with a few training techniques but the best thing for calming me down is simply a lot of exercise.
I’ve been wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed and am ready to go to my new home! I’m a loving, gentle boy and would love to settle in permanently somewhere soon. What do you think – am I good fit for you? If so I’d love to meet you!
