Susie *On Trial in Her New Home*

*SUSIE IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HER NEW HOME* WANTED a loving home for two very special little dogs who have been to hell and back; will it be with you?

Susie and Jake were in the worst state of neglect we’d seen in a long time when they were picked up wandering the streets of Mildura. It was doubtful either dog had ever been groomed in their life time; their matted fur was just horrific, the smell was even worse, they were crawling with fleas and poor Jake was excruciatingly thin; his condition made worse after his pound stay brought on an extremely nasty upper-respiratory infection whereby he spent close to a fortnight in and out of our vets on a drip trying to save his life and regain his strength – this battle was shared on our Facebook page and our community got behind him sending daily words of encouragement as well as much needed donations. After a fabulous makeover and a couple of months in foster care receiving good food and loads of tlc it’s time for Jake and Susie to find a forever home which must be together as they’ve never been apart, we have promised them this.

Susie is a confident little miss who definitely wears the pants in this relationship! \ She’s had one litter of pups from what our vets can tell (we shudder at the thought and can only hope they went to good homes) and we assume Jake was the father as neither dog was desexed when they were picked up. She’s extremely friendly and affectionate and is terrific with humans of all shapes and sizes including children – it’s all about Susie!!! She is smaller than Jake and was in far better condition when we rescued them from the pound, easily weighing more than he did before he was shaved down, but we reckon that’s because she’s a little piggy who loves her food so her weight will need to be watched in her forever home – given half the chance she’d eat her meal then Jake’s every time!! \ Susie and Jake adore each other and thoroughly enjoy each other’s company and love to play. They are loving being allowed inside (we doubt they were ever allowed in their past life) and sleep together at night in their foster carers laundry; as she works full time they spend their days outside and like to snuggle up in a kennel together on the cooler winter days. They haven’t met a lot of other dogs since being in care although next door has a puppy who keeps digging its way under the fence to play with them both without any problems and they’ve been fine meeting others at the vets during their frequent visits. \ We don’t know what they’re like with cats though this could be tested if required. \ They haven’t had much training or appear to have spent much time on a lead so we’re hoping this is something that can be worked on in their forever home.

Gorgeous little Susie is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up her energy. Susie doesn’t shed hair though she’ll require a good brush once a week and a clip a few times a year when her hair gets too long as we’d hate her to get in the state she was in before we saved her. We would love to honour our promise to find Susie and Jake a home together where they can enjoy an inside / outside lifestyle and be part of the households goings on. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew on, lots of cuddles and Jake to play with will make cheeky Susie very happy indeed!
