About Gypsy (Paid. On Trial 4/9/13)
Gypsy is a 2 year old, Maltese x Shih Tzu. She is sweet and loving, just wants all the love and attention you can give. She was surrendered because her owner passed away. While her owner was ill Gypsy was minded by friends and passed from one household to another. I think she was pampered by her owner and treated like her baby, but was not housetrained (which we are working on everyday). She has learnt to use the doggy door and to walk on a lead.
Gypsy loves car rides and playing with soft toys. She also loves to play with my other small foster dog. It's great to see them chasing each another around. I feel she would be best suited to someone who has another little dog because I think she would be stressed if left on her own for long hours.
Gypsy has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful. She is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. She isn't a fussy eater and likes most things. Her birthday is 11/3/2011.
Gypsy loves cuddles and sitting on your lap. I don't have a cat so I don't know how she would be with them. She is great with children over about 7 years old who know to be gentle with her. She seems to particularly love little girls. She likes everyone she meets while we're out on our walks but is scared when new people come to the house. Gypsy takes a little time to get used to new people but once she gets to know and trust you she will snuggle up on your lap. You just have to be a little patient and let her come to you. So as you see she needs someone who has time to spend with her. She will be a very adoring little friend to whoever gives her a home.
For more information or to meet Gypsy please phone foster carer Val on 02-4943-0615 or email grandy9@bigpond.com (phoning is preferred). \ Gypsy is in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Newcastle area).
Gypsy's $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
