About Luca (On Trial 30/7/13)
This is beautiful Luca, 18 month old, male, Labrador x. He's filling out nicely since his release from the pound and is becoming a handsome, energetic and strong young boy! He's a big sook with me, always ready with a sloppy kiss and a big cuddle!
He is such a gentle soul for all his energy and loves to join in the fun with my grandkids when they visit, which is quite often. He is very playful with the older kids 3 ,5, and 8 year olds who love to run around with a ball. But when he's with the babies, 12 and 18 months, he is happy to follow them around with a gentle lick on the face or hands occasionally. The youngest baby actually laid down next to him on his doggy bed when she was a bit sleepy!
Luca has a great appetite and eats everything offered to him except strawberries which my young grandson tried to feed him! He needs to be walked every day to help expend some of his energy. He has become used to sleeping inside at night on his bed in our lounge room. During the day, he is happy to stay outside when we are not home, then we let him in when we get back.
Luca is nervous when he first meets adults that he doesn't know, but is fine once he gets to know them better. When we are out walking he gets fearful if another person is walking towards us (especially males) and likes to give them a wide berth.
Luca has not had a great deal of socialising with other dogs yet although when we walk past other dogs he's keen to go in for a friendly sniff with very waggly tail.
Luca would be very suited to a family with young children, or any loving home where she would be welcome inside and can enjoy your company and snuggle up next to you.
For more information or to meet Luca please phone foster carer Michelle 0431-548-163. Luca is in foster care in Adamstown Heights, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Luca's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
