About Lucky Ducky (On Trial 9/10/13)
Lucky Ducky is a gorgeous little Jack Russell boy who loves to meet people whilst out for a short walk each day. He enjoys his walks and gets so excited when he sees his lead. Lucky loves toys and will often carry little teddy bears or squeaky toys around the house asking you to throw them for him to chase. He mostly forgets to hand them back to you although if you offer him a treat he remembers every time!

People who meet Lucky Ducky are always very surprised to find out he's 10.5 years young as he looks and plays like a younger dog but without the naughtiness of a pup. Lucky is a quiet boy who is content to chomp on a bone or snooze whilst you are out or at work. Lucky loves it when you come home and is happy to just trot along beside you as you go about your household business. Lucky would love a furever home with a single person, a couple, or a family with older kids. He is content to be on his own during the day so would also suit a working household. He loves to be inside and is toilet trained and is very cat friendly as he's currently in foster care with 6 cats and 4 dogs. Lucky would love to be an only dog as he gets frightened of other dog's boisterous games, he is particularly wary of large dogs he doesn't know

Medical notes
Lucky was surrendered to DRN after his beloved older aged owner passed away. He had an extreme skin/flea allergy where he had lost much of his hair, and an infected tail. He also had 3 painful loose teeth. After dental work and tail surgery and medication to treat his allergy his recovery has been astounding. Lucky will need monthly flea preventative like Comfortis to ensure he doesn't have another allergic outbreak and has inexpensive cortizone tablets to relieve any itching.
When Lucky Ducky gets excited or eats he gets a little cough. Chest xrays have revealed he has an enlarged heart and large valves which cause this cough when he is excited. Lucky will soon start a round of blood pressure medication to assist this. As much as Lucky adores walks he is best suited to short walks rather than any long ones.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
