About Humphrey (On Trial 27/7/13)
Humphrey is a medium sized, 1 year old, Lhasa Apso cross. He has adorable teddy bear ears and soft fur. Humphrey is a companion dog who loves nothing more than to be by his carers side. He has an incredibly sweet nature and has not shown one ounce of aggression towards any person or dog that he has encountered during his short time in foster care.
Humphrey is currently left outside during the day with our other foster dogs while we are at work, then he comes in when we come home and sleeps quietly in the lounge room on his bed at night. He must be an inside dog in his forever home.
Humphrey was originally picked up by the council as a stray so his background is unknown and he subsequently spent over 4 weeks in a pound. He is currently living in a foster home with 3 other dogs and 2 cats and even though he was understandably quite anxious to start off with he has settled in to his foster home beautifully.
Humphrey does not appear to have had even basic training but in just one week he has learnt basic commands, has pretty much toilet trained himself and learnt how to use the doggy door. He is a very intelligent boy who just wants to please you. He LOVES playing with our other foster dogs (who range in size from 3.5kg to 35 kg). Humphrey has learnt the hard way that cats aren’t too keen to play with him so he keeps his distance from them. He LOVES going for a walk but will need further training on the lead as he does tend to pull but that is just due to his excitement.
Humphrey has recently been clipped and has a beautiful short silk-like coat but he will need regular brushing, bathing and clipping as his coat grows back (his tail is an indication of how long his coat will grow). His birthday is 28/3/2012.
The ideal home for Humphrey would be one with an active single person, couple or family with children over 8 years (Humphrey is surprisingly strong for such a small dog and tends to jump up when excited). Humphrey would love to have a medium sized or large energetic, playful, young dog for a playmate. He will also need to go to a home where his owners will be committed to providing him with the ongoing training that he requires in order to become a magnificent companion.
Humphrey is currently in foster care in Newcastle. For more information on Humphrey please contact his foster carer Roanne on poxyroxy22@hotmail.com or phone Michelle on 0417-432-012.
Humphrey's $450 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
