About Deano
We’ve tried and tried to figure out how and why Deano could possibly have been surrendered, but we just can’t. He is genuinely one of the easiest, most pleasant dogs you will ever find.
Deano will be an easy addition to almost any active household that wants to include their dog in daily life. He’s happy to remain in the background when necessary, but is a calm, gentle presence when allowed to join in. He doesn’t overwhelm guests, children or other dogs—he simply fits in and goes with the flow. Because he doesn’t want to get in the way, he can at times appear aloof or preoccupied, but given the chance (and permission) he’ll be the first in for cuddles, or just lay his head gently in your lap for a pat.
He is fostered with several other dogs in a busy home with heaps of visitors including six grandchildren. He gets on beautifully with everyone. He has shown no aggressive or destructive behaviours whatsoever. \ If anything, Deano is overly submissive, sometimes being bossed around by a dominant bitch in the pack. He has learned to stand up for himself a little, but he’s most definitely a soft dog.
Alongside his humans, Deano’s other great joy is running and chasing balls. He’s very quiet and relaxed inside as long as he gets stimulating daily activity. He makes it very easy, as he’ll jump at every opportunity to chase his beloved ball! Deano will run like the clappers over hill and dale to fetch a ball, which he’ll then happily return and drop at your feet ready to go again. He has good recall and knows how to sit, stay and go to his bed. What he doesn’t know he’ll easily learn, as he’s very eager do what’s expected once he is clear on what that is. He’s also a natural problem solver. He watched others and taught himself to use the doggie door…and never had a single indoor accident once he’d done so.
Deano currently sleeps happily on his cushion inside, and is probably best suited to a home where he can continue to sleep indoors as he has a tendency to bark if he’s outside at night. Inside he’s quiet as a churchmouse and sleeps through.
This beautiful boy is a sweet, loving, intelligent dog with a gentle nature and a keen desire to please. We cannot imagine a better companion for an active person, couple or family looking for a happy, uncomplicated new addition.
