About Kira (On Trial 26/7/13)
Kira is an 11 week old Maltese x Shih Tzu puppy. She loves cuddles and will snuggle with you for as long as you will let her. She adores all people, and gets along very well with other dogs, large and small. Kira loves playing with her sister Elly, who is also available for adoption. Kira and Elly love to play with their toys and wrestle and chase each other, with typical puppy joy. Elly is slightly smaller and shyer than Kira.
We would like for Kira to go to a home with another small dog who would be her playmate. She's a bit young to be left at home alone for long hours so someone who doesn't work full time would be ideal. Kira hasn't met a cat yet, but being so young she would quickly learn to accept cats as just another member of the family.
Kira enjoys playing in the yard but she is definitely an inside dog. She needs to be kept safely in the house when no one is home and to sleep inside. She loves to curl up in her bed with her soft toys.
Kira has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every day or two depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful. Kira has a spot of pink dye on her forehead to distinguish her from her sister Elly. It will grow out and you can cut the pink fur off.
Her foster carer is house training her and she is doing very well. Kira uses puppy pads inside when she cannot get outside. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
If you would welcome Kira as a member of your family and love her forever, please phone her foster carer Robyn on 02 4972 0804 or 0468 435 587 (she doesn't have email). Kira and Elly are in foster care near Swansea, NSW (eastern side of Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
