About Toby (On Trial 19/7/13)
Toby is a 14 week old Maltese x Shih Tzu puppy. He is a very sweet, playful and loving puppy. Toby gets along very well with other dogs. He's currently living with 7 other dogs of all sizes and breeds and loves them all. He hasn't met a cat yet but being so young he should quickly accept one as just another family member.
We would like for Toby to go to a home with another small dog who would be his playmate. He's a bit young to be left at home alone for long hours so someone who doesn't work full time would be great for him.
Toby is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and certainly to sleep inside. His foster carer is housetraining him and he is doing very well. He uses puppy pads inside when he cannot get outside. We always recommend puppy-training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise, and training.
Toby has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every day or two depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
If you would welcome Toby as a member of your family and love him forever, please phone his foster carer Robyn on 02 4972 0804 or 0468 435 587 (she doesn't have email). Toby is in foster care near Swansea, NSW (eastern side of Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle).
Toby's $550 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
