Red (On Trial 12/10/13)

Introducing Red! He's a medium, 10 month old brown Kelpie x. He's a fun-loving, clever dog who's a delight to have around. Red has a short chocolate brown coat with tan and white markings. He's pretty unique: the white mark on his chest looks like an eagle! With a spectacular set of ears and intense golden eyes he's a strikingly handsome boy.

Red is always happy to meet new people, especially if you play with him. He's adoring and loyal. He enjoys human interaction and affection. Once he's had enough exercise he becomes a sweet little snuggle bug. If you let him he'll place his paws on your lap and shower you with kisses. From what we have seen Red would be fine in a family with children.

In new places with new dogs Red can get overwhelmed but quickly adjusts. He loves to wrestle and play chasey with his our other dogs. He's a total busy-body who has to know what everyone's doing. His absolute favourite thing is fetch; he'll chase a ball all day! His bounding run, leaps and jumps are adorable to watch. His love of life makes him so much fun to have around.

Red has been attending Maitland Obedience Club weekly and will continue to until adopted. He knows many commands. He is easily distracted but intelligent and learns fast from a patient and consistent handler. He walks well on lead and off. Kelpies are healthy, athletic dogs and Red's no exception: he has no health problems and is very fit. He also has the Kelpie's intelligence and loyalty.

Red suits a home where he would be included in family activities and where he'd have plenty of playtime and walks. He needs 6ft fences and ideally, \ another active, medium sized doggy friend for him. He would love to be allowed to come inside of an evening. It would be a bonus if he could continue with dog training classes.
