On Hold
About Zena (On hold pending adoption on 3/8/13)
Zena is a 2 1/2 yr old Boxer x Staffy with a loving attitude to life. She is a gentle giant and regardless of her size is gentle with young kids and smaller dogs. She enjoys chasing you around the yard and cuddles. She doesn't defend her food and is happy to share her dry dog food with others. She enjoys bones and makes quick work of them!
Zena is a kind and loving dog who is a one of a kind. She is a very special girl and regardless of having been through a lot in her short life has a wonderful and loving nature. She has learnt some commands very easily and others are taking longer.
Zena enjoys being inside and loves being around people. She will lay in front of the heater or even on top of your feet on the lounge just to be near you. She gets very excited at the prospect of going for a walk. She is learning not to pull on the lead and will need more work on this. She would benefit from going to dog training classes or someone who knows how to use kind, gentle, positive reinforcement training.
Another of Zena's favourite things is car rides, and if you open any car door she will jump right in! She doesn't get car sick or move around the car. Once she is in she lays down and enjoys the trip.
Zena is in need of a loving, caring home to give her attention and love. Preferably with kids and someone at home a fair bit but not necessary.
For more information or to meet Zena please phone or text 0408 603 156. Zena is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW and is available for adoption interstate.
Zena's $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
