About Yana (On Trial 13/7/13)
This is beautiful Yana, 9 month old, whippet x. Yana has a lovely docile temperament typical of her breed. She is very affectionate offering big sloppy kisses whenever possible. She's a bit of a sook wanting to snuggle up and sit right next to you or right on top of you. She is still a puppy but is learning to sit and stay on command. She is good on the lead and has learned to sit at the curb and wait before walking across safely with her human.
Yana has a good appetite and eats everything offered. She is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside. She is housetrained and knows to do her business out on the grass. She is fine outside when we're not home. On cold days she wears her new red doggy puffer jacket. Very cute! I let her in when I come home. She is happy to snooze on her dog bed in our family room or outside on the balcony in the sunshine. Yana is used to sleeping in the lounge room on her dog bed at night.
Yana is fantastic with children and my 5 grand kids give her a run for her money! The youngest is only 12 months old and Yana allows her to sit on her belly or back and crawl all over her while the older kids 2, 3, 4 and 7 run around playing noisy games and Yana just trots around with them joining in the fray!
Yana has not had a lot socialisation yet but after a controlled introduction to my daughter's 3 yo staffy X cattle dog they spent an hour or so playing in the back yard happily chasing each other around and are now firm friends! Despite being named after Jana Pittman the hurdler, our Yana is not a fence jumper. But she has long legs and is a very fast runner.
I have only heard Yana bark once in the 10 days I have been her foster carer and that was when someone unexpectedly walked in with their hoody up and startled her. As soon as she saw his face she quickly settled and wagged her tail. She has settled in here beautifully and is a very delightful girl to have around. She will make the family or person who adopts her very, very happy.
For more information or to meet Yana please phone foster carer Michelle 0431-548-163. Yana is in foster care in Adamstown Heights, NSW (Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Yana's $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
