About Opie (On Trial 27/7/13)
Opie is an intelligent 6 month old male puppy. He is a Mini Foxie x Staffy but we think he may also have some whippet in him. He is a gorgeous, friendly puppy who just loves to be around people. He is very affectionate and LOVES to give everyone kisses!
Opie will grow to be a medium sized dog and currently weighs about 8kg. He gets along very well with other dogs and would love to go to a home where he would have another dog to play with. It is unknown how he behaves around cats. He is great with the children that he has met. He is a very well behaved boy and behaves himself very well when indoors, in the car and out in public.
Opie is extremely intelligent and is a very quick learner (especially when there are treats involved!). He knows how to sit, shake, lie down and rollover. He is also currently learning the commands ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘on your bed’. He is mostly housetrained but being a puppy still has the occasional accident when he gets scared or anxious. However he should grow out of this as he gets older with appropriate training. It is essential that his training is continued and he would excel at it and enjoy positive reinforcement training.
Opie’s favourite game is to steal toys off other dogs and then race around the yard as they chase him. He also likes to play tug of war and loves his squeaky toys! Opie LOVES his treats and will do almost anything to get them! He also enjoys going for walks and exploring new places. His birthday is 19/12/2012.
Opie’s ideal home would be with other dog(s). He behaves himself well when left in the backyard when you are not home but would need to be allowed inside to be a part of the family whenever you are home. Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
