About Queenie
Queen of Hearts
Queenie is approx. 1 year old medium x breed (possibly Dalmatian) who was rescued from death row at the local pound when her previous owners failed to collect her. On arrival at the shelter it was very quickly realized how shy and timid Queenie was, Queenie was so scared of people that she didn’t even want to come out of her pen and would spend most of the day in there hiding in the back corner on her bed. After about 6 months of gentle perseverance and patience Elaine finally gained Queenie’s full trust and could pretty much do anything with her. Queenie had a wag in her tail and would gallop around the yards playing ball and chasing the other dogs.
Queenie has now been in foster care for about a month and is very quickly learning to trust people, she goes for regular walks to the local school, shops and parks and she can now walk past people and traffic without cowering. Queenie is usually good on a lead but will pull when she smells or see’s something interesting.
We do not know what has happened to Queenie in her previous life, possibly she was abused or maybe she didn't get much human attention and wasn't socialised. Queenie is a little afraid of males and after a month in foster care still has some reservations with her foster dad, but with every day she is learning more and more that he can be trusted. Queenie is great with her foster mum and loves the children she is always so gentle with them and will follow them everywhere.
Queenie is a beautiful, quiet girl who rarely barks. Queenie is also very smart and knows some cool tricks like sit and shake hands plus most of the time she can catch food when it’s thrown to her.
Queenie also lives with two cats who she likes to try to play with but they always seem to get the better of her and she will retreat. Queenie has never shown any sign of aggression towards them at all. Other animals Queenie lives with are chickens and a goose Queenie is ok with them but every now and then usually in the afternoon Queenie will get her hypo on and do a quick couple of laps around the yard, during this time she sometimes likes to chase the poor chickens luckily for them she never hurts them and her energy soon runs out.
If you think Queenie could be the girl for you and that you could provide her a patient loving safe home we would love to hear from you.
