About Billy
Billy is a lovely dog - he is a pure bred border collie - very social. Loves to be inside or outside. Loves kids and being with the family. Loves a run in the car. Loves the beach and chasing a ball or having a dip.
He is very easy going and adaptable. He would love a family that have time to exercise him daily - he would love to learn flyball or agility training. He would love being able to come inside sometimes and have a great fenced yard to play in.
Billy loves to run on the beach and in the yard. He loves to sit on his kennel and watch whats happening inside the house. He barks occasionally if he is trying to entice another dog to play but is not an excessive barker.
Medical notes
Billy is a pure bred and was born with a heart defect. He was surrendered to our rescue group a bit late and even though he has had open heart surgery he was just a bit too old and the damage to his heart was already permanent. He will need medication for the rest of his life (Vetmedin) and our vet is happy to monitor him as he gets older. He expects Billy to live anywhere between 5-10 years - he thinks ten years is achievable for Billy. He will need ongoing medication and heart ultrasounds so there is a quite a bit of financial commitment if you adopt Billy. He is desexed and seriously you would never believe there is anything wrong with him - he runs at a million miles an hour on the beach and is active and happy. I guess he is just a bit of a time bomb and one day (hopefully a long way way his heart will just give up). He is a beautiful dog and every day he has is a special day and worth every cent.
