About Peanut (On Trial 13/7/13)
Peanut is 2 yr old female Maltese x Shih Tzu. She is so pretty and lovable she's sure to steal your heart. She loves other dogs, large and small and gets along great with my cats. She is very good on the lead. She is not a barker, and only barks when someone knocks on the door or if she wants the treat off the other dogs.
Peanut is very affectionate and loves people, especially woman and children. She has a bit of a problem with men as she has really attached herself to me and doesn't like my husband very much. But I'm sure with gentle encouragement from another male, she will be just fine.
Peanut is an inside dog and must sleep inside but have access to outside through the day to play and go to the toilet. She is still learning the toilet training routine and is getting better every day. Further training such as dog training classes would benefit her as she is still quite young and just starting out in life. She sometimes gets car sick. She may grow out of it, or medicine from the vet can help.
Peanut will need to go to someone who has another small, friendly dog because Peanut has never been an only dog and likes having a doggy playmate. Plus it would be ideal if you are a stay-at-home mum or don't work full time. But that's okay if you are not as long as Peanut has another dog for company.
Peanut has a beautiful non-shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful. She's a darling little girl just waiting for a loving home where she can settle down and have a happy life.
For more information or to meet Peanut, please phone foster carer Krystina on 02 4948-5557 or 0414-702-323 or email krystina_ws@hotmail.com . Peanut is in Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Peanut's adoption fee is $450 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
