About Trixie (On Trial 29/6/13)
Little Trixie is a 5 year old Australian Silky terrier X who loves to adore and be adored. When we got her she quickly became attached to me, she looks at me lovingly all day, trusted me instantly, and quickly became my great little companion. She needs a mother figure in her life!!!
Trixie is just becoming aware of what happiness is all about; she is content at home but has started liking to explore the world outside. At the park she acts as though she has never had the chance to run around and explore, meeting people and smelling different scents is new and a little bit scary to her, but she is always up to the challenge. It took her a while to get used to the lead, but now she just loves the sight of it and also loves a car ride. Life has got a lot more interesting for her.
She is a very quiet dog, only barking when someone knocks at the door or an unfamiliar sound is heard outside. With children she responds very well and will sit with them to get a much loved pat. Trixie is only starting to get the idea of playing with people. Once she had settled down, I started gently roughing her up and she responded by running around crazy and coming back for more. It was great to see.
Trixie is only now getting used to having men around her. We have been teaching her that men won’t hurt her and she is responding well. This is an area that needs to be continued by her new family. All we do is get men to give her a special doggy treat when they are near her. This helps her associate them with something special.
Trixie would suit someone that wants a very gentle dog in the family. Older children would be great for her, or even a single lady on her own who wants a special companion would be perfect for her. She is a very easy care dog; she sleeps inside all night and wakes up late if she is allowed. Trixie is content to spend time in the backyard; as long as there is a beautiful sunny spot she can place her bed. With other dogs she is comfortable, though not inclined to get too involved with playing.
As you may have gathered, Trixie’s life hasn’t been too happy before now. We need a family that wants to continue with her happiness training so that Trixie’s beautiful personality can continue to bloom. \ It is very rewarding seeing how far she has come in the last 4 weeks; I know she can eventually be full of sunshine and smiles.
