About Shae
Are you looking for a loyal companion and family member? A sweet loving girl who is really just a lap dog at heart? Then Shae could be the one for you!
Shae is an absolute sweetheart and with her calm, soft and gentle nature she wins hearts wherever she goes. Shae adores people and loves to spend as much time as possible with her family, following you around the house and snuggling up close on the couch for gentle pats and cuddles. She is a very affectionate girl and needs lots of gentle interaction with her trusted people.
Shae is completely toilet trained and well behaved around the house. She is definitely an inside as well as outside kind of girl and needs to be welcomed inside as part of the family. She is not suited to being left outside alone for long periods of time and needs the security and love of a kind and caring home where she has the opportunity to snuggle and work on her lap dog skills! She needs a home where someone is around most of the time or takes her out with them as she craves companionship.
Shae is obedient and walks very well on the lead. She knows how to sit, stay, wait, come, has excellent recall and travels well in the car. She loves to get out and about with her human/s and will happily come along with you while you go about your daily activities, which is a pleasure to do with her around as she is very well behaved and easy to handle.
If you enjoy lovely long walks then all the better as Shae looks forward to her daily exercise. Her confidence has grown a lot since being with her current foster carer, but she still looks to her person for reassurance around all the new smells and sounds she comes across. She is an intelligent dog and would benefit from an owner who would like to take her herding, to flyball classes or something similar on the weekends to give her an outlet and an opportunity to use her abilities.
Due to a recent bad experience Shae can be reactive when meeting new dogs and because of this she is not a dog park kind of girl. She becomes overwhelmed when around groups of unknown dogs and would much prefer a quiet walk and some playtime with her beloved person/family.
Shae is however in regular contact with a number of her foster carers friends dog’s and now gets along with them after slow introductions were made and proper meet and greet procedures were followed (VICDRG can provide guidance and support with this).
Shae needs an owner who understands her uncertainty and has the time and willingness to continue on with her training in this area. She may never be comfortable around large groups of dogs, but with correct and consistent training this could improve.
Because of her sensitive nature Shae needs kindness and love alongside leadership and training.
Shae is territorial with new dogs visiting her place so is not suited to a home where other dogs regularly come to visit. She prefers to go to their house!
She does however adore human visitors and will be sure to make them feel welcome. She is in her element when around people and thinks they have all come just to visit her! She greets them with a big wag of her tail and is very happy to have people around.
She really enjoys the company of friendly children (six years plus) and is very gentle and respectful of them. She loves to run around with them while they play and then stop the game to roll over for a belly rub and some kisses! It’s very sweet to see and children really love her. She prances around with her tail wagging and is really very happy amongst kids.
Shae does enjoy her quiet time when she feels like it so needs children who will respect her need for space at these times.
Shae would also be very suited to a home with a couple or single who would adore her.
Shae is based in Melbourne.
Medical notes
Happy, healthy girl.
