Rodger *On Trial in His New Home*

*RODGER IS CURRENTLY TRIALLING HIS NEW HOME* Looking for a dog who doubles as a Ragdoll cat as he’s so soft, relaxed and floppy whenever you pick him up? \ Then you can’t go past Rodger the love bug who we recently rescued from Robinvale pound!

From his foster carer:
Loveable Rodger is a bit of a charmer who loves cuddles and all the dogs here have just fallen in love with him. Rodger enjoys playing with toys and with the other dogs, either rough and tumble style or he likes to cuddle up with them for some quiet time – Rodger seems to sense the other dog’s moods and acts accordingly to make them happy! He adores children, just wanting to play or be near them, and he loves to snuggle up on the couch for some tv time with anyone who’ll let him. When you pick him up Rodger is like a big ragdoll and will just flop in your arms. Rodger is fine with cats though he will chase them if they run but he only wants to play; he would never hurt them – he is really just a happy boy willing to please! Clever Rodger knows “sit” and “wait” and has quickly learnt the name we’ve given him though he could do with a bit more practice on a lead. He loves his dry food, chicken necks and treats and takes them gently. Rodger sleeps inside on our bed and doesn't move all night. He has had a couple of accidents while inside so we are working on that and he has started to tell us at the back door when he needs to go out – we reckon he’d be even better if he went to a home with a doggie door. Rodger would make a terrific family member, he would fit in almost anywhere, another dog for company or someone home lots would be perfect for this little snuggle bunny!

Spunky little Rodger is quite low-maintenance only needing a short walk or a run around the backyard to use up his energy. Being a Maltese x he doesn’t shed hair though he’ll require a good brush once a week and a clip a few times a year to keep his coat in tip-top condition. Secure fencing, chicken necks to chew, toys to play with and lots of loving will make Rodger very happy indeed! Rodger would be best suited to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle with the companionship of another playful dog or own his own but only if he won’t be left for long periods of time.
