About Scooter (On Trial 14/7/13)
Scooter is a very handsome 18 month old, brown and white border collie cross. He is a beautiful boy and very affectionate. He absolutely loves cuddles and is very gentle. He is very active and loves his walks, if he hasn't been walked for a few days, he will let you know! Scooter will need to go to an active family who will be able to walk him at least once a day and with a medium to large backyard where he can run around and play during the day or while you are not home.
Scooter is very obedient and eager to please. He can sit and play fetch and we have found he has been very easy to train. We are teaching him to shake and drop. He loves to play fetch and to play with his toys and he also gets along really well with our two other younger pups. He is toilet trained, but when we first got him he was keen to mark his territory and had a few accidents inside, but now he lets us know when he needs to go outside and has no more accidents.
We think Scooter would be fine with children but we don't have children so aren't certain but he is always gentle with us. Scooter is very affectionate and requires a lot of love, which is not hard to give as he is a beautiful, good-natured dog. He is a medium sized dog, and after being in the pound and coming to us very skinny and shy, he is slowly starting to get to a healthy weight and coming out of his shell nicely. Scooter comes inside when we are home and sleeps inside on his bed inside during the night. Of a day time he is happy playing outside while we are at work. We will be sad to see him go as he has become such a happy, loving and loyal fur friend.
For more information or to meet Scooter please phone foster carer Lily on 0413 599 588. He is in foster care in Waratah in Newcastle, NSW and is available for adoption interstate. Scooter will be desexed this week and will be able to go to his permanent home after the 4th of July 2013. You can meet him now and leave a deposit if you would like him to join your family.
Scooter's $400 adoption fee includes his desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
