About Bowie (On Trial 14/7/13)
Bowie is a 4 month old Pug x Kelpie/Foxy puppy. He will be a medium size once fully grown. He truly is the SWEETEST little guy, and we have fallen head over heels for him. He is such a laid back and easy going little pup. He is wise beyond his years and is no trouble at all. He doesn’t bark, chew, dig, whinge, escape the backyard or do anything to cause us any worry. He is easily the best behaved pup I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. We anticipated a high maintenance, mess making ball of energy when we knew we would be fostering a puppy – but he is anything but. He has won my partner over completely and they can often be found working on cars in the shed together. Our friends and family all love him too, his little eyes are enough to melt anyone’s heart.
Bowie knows to sit before receiving a treat or being patted. He is a very quick learner and is eager to please. He knows not to rush in the door to try come into the house, and will wait until he is asked. One thing that we are working on is Bowie’s tendency to jump a little when excited, but he is very gentle – barely putting any weight on you at all. For a puppy, I am blown away by how well he behaves and how responsive he is to commands. He is well mannered and is getting better each day. I am yet to hear him bark even once.
As with any puppy Bowie has a limited attention span, but he is happy just to follow me around the yard and potter around with me, so I can’t see him being the type to just run away when off the lead.
Bowie gets along perfectly with our Ridgeback (Lincoln). They even share the same kennel by choice. We do not have any other animals but I cannot imagine that he would have a problem with birds, rabbits etc. Bowie also has interacted with our 11 month old child and apart from typical puppy excitement, has been perfect. Bowie is happiest when sunning himself with our dog, and we often joke that he is Lincoln’s little shadow.
Bowie likes to chew his squeaky toys and will fetch them if you throw them for him. He loves a good run around, but is equally happy to just sit on your feet and have a cuddle. His favourite toy is his chicken drumstick that squeaks. He even takes it to bed with him.
Bowie has never shown any signs of fretting or separation anxiety – having said that he has always had Lincoln for company. I think so long as you spend some quality time with Bowie when you are home then he will be fine. Bowie is outside through the day, and of a night is let into our laundry to sleep – he hasn’t had any accidents to date.
I feel that Bowie would suit any home, although I am sure he would love to have a doggy companion and even some kids to run wild with him in the yard and play, play, play. He would also love to be able to have a break and have lots of gentle cuddles… He is an amazing little guy and will make the right family so so happy!

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
