About Peanut and Louisa (Louisa on trial 2/7/13)
Introducing Peanut and Louisa: Peanut is 2 yr old female Maltese x Shih Tzu and Louisa is a 2 to 3 yr old female Australian Silky Terrier. They have been in my care together for the past 10 weeks and get on fabulously! They are BFFs ( best friends forever). The little partners in crime play happily together all day and even snuggle up together when they sleep. They also love playing with my own dog who is the same size, plus they love to play with my cattle dog. I also have cats and they are great with them.
Peanut and Louisa love all people, even kids but Louisa is a bit timid to start with but when she gets to know you she is all over you with love and kisses. Peanut is also very loving but has a bit of a problem with men as she has really attached herself to me and doesn't like my husband very much. At times as she thinks she owns me! But I'm sure with gentle encouragement with another male, she will be just fine.
Louisa travels really well in the car but Peanut sometimes gets car sick. They both are really good on the lead. Louisa is a little scared at first and then she is fine. Peanut only barks when someone knocks on the door or if she wants the treat off the other dogs. Louisa doesn't bark much at all, only to the cats because she wants to play with them.
Peanut and Louisa are inside dogs and must sleep inside but have access to out side through the day to play and go to the toilet. They are still learning the toilet training routine and both are getting there. Further training such as dog training classes would benefit both dogs as they are both still quite young.
I would really love if they could stay together as they really love each other but if they have to be separated, then they would only be allowed to go to someone who has another pup/dog of the same size which is sociable and playful. Plus it would be ideal if you are a stay-at-home mum or don't work full time. But that's okay if you are not as long as they have a playmate or can stay together.
Peanut and Louisa are both non-shedding dogs so they need regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep them comfortable and beautiful.
For more information or to meet this pretty pair, please phone foster carer Krystina on 02 4948-5557 or 0414-702-323 or email krystina_ws@hotmail.com . They are in foster care near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle).
Peanut and Louisa's adoption fee is $850 for the pair and they are both desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped, and lifetime registered. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Both are healthy young dogs
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
