About Leo
Leo was saved by a telephone call, and is a very lucky boy. Leo had lived with his elderly owner in Sydney until it was time for her to move into assisted living. At this point the owner's children thought having Leo killed made the most sense.
Luckily our friends at the vet knew better and gave us a call.
It is completely obvious when we look at his face and spend time with Leo that he has been adored and well-cared for his entire life. He prefers to sit on the lounge next to you, and sleep on the bed with you, but will sit on the floor by your feet when you are on the computer. He has shown no interest in his carer's cat, and gives a polite growl when a boisterous younger dog wants to play. He prefers human affection, and will spontaneously come to you for kisses by putting his paws on your knee. He likes to ride in the front seat of the car, and is well behaved. He needs some ongoing dental care as a small dog with a soft diet often has dental decay. He has not been tested with children but imagine he would do fine if the children were trained on proper dogga handling.
If you are pondering adopting Leo, think about this: one day you may have to go to assisted living, and your pets will have to go somewhere else to live or be killed. By adopting Leo, you will surely be entitled to some good luck when your day finally comes. This isn't just "paying it forward"-- this is paying it in advance, and anonymously. May you enjoy a lifetime of this boy's love and attention.
Adoption details
We ask all people looking to adopt to fill an enquiry form.
You can receive this by emailing maggiesrescueadoptions@gmail.com or visiting our webpage www.maggiesrescue.org
We will then organise a time for you to meet with the foster carer and the pet you are interested in adopting.
Maggie's wants this to be a good experience for you, and we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog as your situation may not meet the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of this period we will transfer the microchip to your details and the adoption is complete.
Your pet is a Maggie's Pet for Life, please consider this before adopting.
This pet has been adopted and found love with its new family.
