Stella

If ever there was a snuggly people dog, Stella is it. Very affectionate, she loves her humans and everybody else's humans! Not so much horses, livestock or birds, so if you're looking for a worker she's not your girl. But if you want a gorgeous loyal companion, Stella is all about the love.

This beautiful girl appears to have had nothing done with her training prior to being rescued, but she's eager to please and is making great progress. Since coming into foster care only a few short weeks ago, she's already learned to wait for her food and to sit (which she understands both verbally and via hand command). She is learning to walk on a loose lead and to come when called. She will benefit from continued training and reinforcement, as she can still be distracted fairly easily. She is very polite at meal times, sitting away from you while you're eating. Of course she's really sitting there counting the minutes until she can get on the couch and snuggle with you again!

Stella likes being inside with her humans, but is also quite happy to entertain herself chasing butterflies when left in the yard and has been very respectful of fence boundaries. She currently sleeps inside on the couch, and has also slept outside without incident. Her night time housetraining has been reliable, but if she's going to be alone indoors during the day she'll need a bit more training to make it through.

Stella is fine with other dogs, but she's not hankering for constant canine engagement so would be equally suited to being an only dog in a home where she had lots of opportunity for human involvement, exercise and attention. Stella is a people dog, and will reward a bit more work on her training with a lifetime of humorous antics and love.
