About Sweetie
Sweetie by name, sweetie by nature, this girl is a treasure. Having been rescued from a rural pound with four two week old pups, Sweetie had a tough start to her young life. But just look at her now! Desexed and having raised her pups as a loving and attentive mother Sweetie is ready to start a new life as a loved pet herself. And trust us, loving her will be about the easiest thing you ever do.
This girl is a breeze to have around and fits into day to day family activities with ease. She is fully housetrained to an indoor/outdoor (doggie door) lifestyle, never having had a single accident even during her time nursing her babies. And as we’d expect from any young kelpie lass worth her salt, she’s smart and easy to train. She sits, stays and walks gently on a lead, has terrific recall, gets on well with other dogs and is gentle with kids and adults alike. She’s never chewed anything that wasn’t a toy and has shown no signs of kelpie destructiveness or hyperactivity.
Sweetie loves a good run—she’s smaller than the average kelpie and is a serious pocket rocket! She thinks chasing birds is about the best thing going, so a home with chooks is probably not her ideal situation. If she gets a good gallop and/or a long tussle with other dogs each day, she’s quite content to mooch around the house or sleep in a warm spot the rest of the time, particularly if she has company. Or to follow you around just in case you’re doing something interesting, at which point she might gently press the back of your knees with her wet nose just to say hello. That said, she’ll give you space when you tell her to and doesn’t make a nuisance of herself.
Sweetie is currently a primarily indoor dog, but would most likely adjust easily to an outdoor change if necessary, as long as she had plenty of interaction and involvement with activities. She will definitely be happiest as an integrated part of a person or family’s life, not as a guard or working dog.
Whoever meets this girl will fall in love with her immediately. She is truly one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever met. So if you are the active, loving home that can appreciate this lady’s gentle nature, get in touch!
