About Spangles (On Trial 23/6/13)
Spangles is a beautiful Maltese x Shih Tzu. She is aged between 1 and 1.5 years old, so is still in the playful puppy stage. Spangles loves having her head and belly rubbed. Her bottom teeth make her look like she is smiling all the time. She enjoys going for her daily walk and sits nicely when you go for a drive. She loves to follow me around the house and has a cute habit of jumping at the back of my leg, like a cuddle.
Spangles is easy going and gets along with both of my dogs and my cat. She loves kids and will sit with them when they are playing. Her favourite human game is blocks, if they aren't packed away, she chews them. She is learning to play with dog 'toys. At night Spangles sleeps on my child's bed. She is housetrained and is an inside dog.
Spangles is a non shedding dog so she will need a bath every 3 weeks and grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her coat in great condition. As she has her fur short at the moment she wears jackets when it is cold.
Spangles came into foster care after she had puppies and her old owners decided to keep one of them and rehome her. Spangles is gaining confidence since coming into care and will only be rehomed where she will be a valued family member. She would be best suited to a home where there is someone with her most of the time and another small, well behaved dog for her to play with. Spangles would love children over the age of 4 as her playmates.
Spangles is booked in for desexing on 11 June and will be ready to go to her new home about 10 days later, 20 June. You can meet her now and if approved to adopt her can leave a deposit then pick her up when she is ready.
For more information or to meet Spangles please phone foster carer Michelle on 0468 939 132. Spangles is in Port Stephens NSW (about 40 minutes north of Newcastle) and is available for adoption interstate.
Spangles's $450 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
