About Pixie (On Trial 8/6/13)
Little Pixie is a 5 year old, Maltese x Silky Terrier. She suits her name perfectly as she is a gentle as a butterfly and as cute as a button. The thing she likes the most is to have someone’s attention; she will patiently wait until invited up on your knee and spend the time sitting quietly and enjoying your company. She is also very playful and enjoys a friendly wrestle with another small dog. She also likes you to play with her toys with her.
Pixie is very gentle with children and she enjoys playing with children. We have never heard Pixie bark, growl or make any other noise, so she seems to be perfect company for anyone that loves peace and quiet. She hasn't had any training up until now so we are working on her housetraining.
Pixie is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home and after dark. She feels the cold and needs to sleep inside. She has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing (every few days depending on length), bathing (every few weeks) and clipping (every 4 to 8 weeks) to keep her comfortable and beautiful.
Pixie would easily suit someone looking for a fun loving and gentle soul to spend their days with. She became devoted to me very quickly as she saw the mother figure in me. She would be happy being the only dog in the family, so she can get all the attention, but she would also easily fit in with a family that has a dog with a similar nature.
For more information or to meet Pixie please phone foster carer Karen on 02-4947-7703 or Jason on 0432 672 356. Pixie is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW.
Pixie's $400 adoption fee includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, and lifetime registration. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
