Tessa (On Trial 8/6/13)

Tessa is a 4 year old, purebred, border collie; a very beautiful, healthy girl with a lovely temperament. She is the most human friendly dog around, and she has not put a foot wrong since she got here, she is just sooo lovable and friendly. She loves to be around people and will often follow us into which ever room we are in to lie there happily in our company. Tessa is an extremely loving and relaxed dog and loves nothing more than just hanging out with you all day. She loves cuddles and pats and will sometimes beg you for more by lifting her paw to shake. She isn't used to young children so a home with no children or children over 8 years old would be best.

She loves walks and is always on a mission to get to the park but once there she walks extremely well off the lead and returns when called. She walks around with a big smile on her face. Tessa likes most toys but seems to like squeaky ones more than anything and will occasionally fetch a ball if the mood strikes her. She doesn't bark alot, only when we are home and someone comes to the door.

She knows basic commands and is very eager to please plus she will do anything for food so I'm sure she wouldn't be hard to train if you wanted her to learn more. She would do very well in dog training classes or dog sports. She is extremely intelligent and is quick to learn new commands and eager to please especially when rewarded with little food treats.

Tessa is housetrained and needs to be allowed to come in the house when the family are at home. She is used to sleeping indoors because she just loves to be near you. She is no trouble to feed and seems to love everything. She eats very slowly and gently and enjoys liver treats.

Tessa was surrendered to rescue shortly before Christmas because she was pregnant and the owners did not want her because the wife was having a baby, they were moving to a new home and basically didn't want to be bothered. Tessa gave birth to 8 healthy puppies on Boxing Day and was a very good mother. All her puppies have now been adopted and now it is Tessa's turn to find her forever home. She is a pure bred Border Collie. Her original owner said he would give us her pedigree papers if he could find them but he never did.

Previously Tessa lived with numerous other dogs and cats and never had any problems with any of them. She shows no aggression towards any dog. She is curious about our cat and gentle with him but sometimes when our cat runs she likes to run after him, not to hurt him, just to enjoy the game of chase.
