About Sadie
Sadie is not only beautiful, she is also extraordinarily smart and eager to please. In fact her foster mum—a vet and owner of several other dogs—says she’s possibly the smartest dog she’s ever seen! Combine this with an innate eagerness to please and you get the picture. Sadie is a real find.
DNA tested and confirmed to be 100% kelpie, Sadie has the intelligence and loyalty that utterly define the breed. Of course it also means she’ll need enough daily exercise and engagement with general activity to be happy, but is not hyperactive. \ She is content to relax around the house during the day and wait for her walk, run or favourite activity….ball chasing. Let’s be up front on this one, she’s ball obsessed! But unlike many dogs that will not give up pushing you to play, Sadie responds well to all correction, including being told to leave you alone when it’s not time to play.
Sadie is completely housetrained and will go outside to wee on command whether she feels like it or not. She has excellent recall and little inclination to disobey. She did jump a four foot fence, but didn’t run away—just came back when called. But if she’s to be left outside during the day without humans to keep an eye on her, you’ll need to consider fencing accordingly. At present she’s fostered as a mostly indoor dog.
Sadie is not much of a barker, although has enough territoriality to alert you if someone comes into the yard. She has been extensively tested with cats and is completely relaxed around them even when unsupervised. While she doesn’t currently live with children she’s been around them in many circumstances and has been delightful. She is also fine when out and about meeting other dogs. We think she'd be equally suited to being an only dog or a home with other dogs and/or cats.
Sadie has delighted both her foster family and everyone she’s met. We are very excited for her to find a forever home that will appreciate all the love and companionship this dog has to offer, and so willingly shares.
