About Stumpy (On Trial 23/7/13)
Stumpy is a 9 month old, male, purebred Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog. He is a lovely, happy, energetic little boy, still just a puppy. His foster carer is an experienced dog trainer so Stumpy is very well trained! All the hard work of training a puppy is already done.
There is absolutely no aggression in him, he loves everyone and everything. Sometimes new things scare him a bit but he is so interested in everything that he gets over that very quickly. We have two border collies and Stumpy adores them, follows them around everywhere and copies their behaviour. Stumpy would be happy to live in a home with another dog. He seems to be more scared of cats than anything. People often remark on how handsome he is with his unusual stumpy tail.

Stumpy is not a difficult dog. While it's true that Stumpy will need exercise, it doesn't mean that his human has to be super fit for this. Playing fetch, taking him to the park, playing with other dogs or letting him run along side the bike is plenty for him! He is very playful, loves balls, frisbees, sticks and anything he can fetch. He would excel at dog training classes and dog sports. On wet days, even mental stimulation is very tiring for him (visiting people, having someone visit us, doing training, working on getting food out of a kong or treat ball, etc). He is very good at coming back when called, just a bit too interested in everything sometimes to come back quickly, but fine to be off lead.
I believe Stumpy would make an excellent family pet for an individual or family who is willing to give him the time he needs and guide him with what is expected of him. Stumpy is a loving and intelligent dog, and full of potential.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to phone (preferred) or email the foster carer listed on the pet's profile (scroll to the bottom on the description). They can tell you all about the pet. They will also ask you about what sort of home you are offering in order to assess if it is a good match.
(2) Arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carers home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. They will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
