About Billy
Billy is a loveable goofball. We love this happy, bouncy boy to bits, and his zest for life is contagious. When we rescued Billy, he was a badly neglected bag of skin and bones. Through the love and attention of his vet nurse foster carer, Billy has blossomed into the strong specimen he is today, and has developed into an absolutely gorgeous dog.
Since coming into foster care Billy hasn't just gotten healthy. He has learned to sit and come (in fact his recall is superb). But he’ll need a forever home that is committed to ongoing training and obedience work so that he can realize his full potential.
Billy has a strong kelpie drive and will need access to space--or preferably a walkk/run--for exercise each day. He’s quite happy to stay around a normal backyard and never runs off even when his foster brothers and sisters do. But when he’s taken out for exercise, this boy knows what he wants: to run. He runs. And runs. And runs some more. He’s at his happiest at a full gallop, but again comes back immediately when called.
Billy is currently living mostly outside in a protected yard. But an experienced and/or patient owner would have no trouble housetraining him as an inside dog as long as he was getting exercised each day. He is great with other dogs, lovely with kids (if a bit boisterous) but is a typical kelpie stalker of horses and cats. So maybe best he goes to a cat-free home unless both you and your cat are experienced at managing this.
Whoever adopts Billy will fall in love with him immediately and be rewarded tenfold in return. The simple delights—company, exercise, a bird in the yard, a treat for sitting—is about all this boy needs to deliver a jackpot of fun and adoration.
